Assessment-based Certificate of Competence (COC)

Eligible non-national seafarers
Honduras competency certification is assessed against the rank being requested. The applicant's present licence, sea-service record, STCW training and other competency evidence are reviewed before the file proceeds.

Application Procedure

01 Pre-assessment Review the applicant's current rank, certificate, sea service and training.
02 Confirm requested COC rank Establish the competency level being requested.

DGMM IMPORTANT CONDITIONS

International sea service: DGMM states that sea service used toward a merchant officer title generally has to be performed aboard vessels of at least 500 GT engaged on international voyages, except applicable near-coastal certification routes.

Deck limitations: where ECDIS, ARPA or RADAR training is not presented, DGMM may place corresponding operational limitations on the licence.

Inactive more than five years: additional evidence of continued professional competence or compliance with STCW I/11 / A-I/11 may be required.

Final assessment: the exact DGMM checklist must be reconfirmed for the applicant's rank and current documents before submission.

02 / Seafarer

Crew Endorsement / COE

Recognition of an existing valid foreign competency certificate is a separate process from an original Honduras COC application.
